1939: 31 (M; vansomereni ssp.). Type locality: Lugezi Camp, between Mount Mgahinga and Mount Sabinio, Uganda (NHMUK). Distribution: Cameroon, Uganda. References: Edwards 1941: 329 (M*); Mattingly 1956a: 43 (lectotype designation). Etymology: large leaf (Gr); ref. to leaf on gonocoxite larger than on toroensis. Informal name: Large-leafed Ugandan Typical Mosquito.
