Bionomics

Type habitat: desert vegetation.

Medical Importance

Xerophilic, anthropophillc; suspected vector of cutaneous leishmaniasis (L. major) in Sahara (Artemiev, 1978a) and of sandfly fever in Ethiopia (Abonnenc, 1972) based on its dose relationship to P. papatasi.
