Adults of Lutzomyia squamiventris squamiventris have been collected on human bait in Brazil (Naiff et al. 1991).

Medical Importance

"Leishmania naiffi and unidentified Leishmania have been found in naturally infected females of L. s. squamiventris in Brazil (Naiff et al. 1991)." (Young & Duncan 1994:570)
