Dichotomous key

1. Dichotomous keys consist of a series of statements organized into illustrated numbered (hierarchical) couplets.

2. Each couplet consists of mutually exclusive character states.

3. Choice of a character state leads to a secondary couplet until an outcome (identification) is achieved.
