Bionomics
Larvae, generally found in shaded pools in the interior of swamp forest, use specially modified siphons to pierce stems and roots of aquatic vegetation to obtain air. Females prefer cattle but do enter houses to bite man (Wharton 1962).

Medical Importance
Inefficient vector of B. malayi (Wharton 1962).
