Bionomics
Larvae are found “in clear water in well vegetated swamps,
seepages, and slow moving streams and rivers; occasionally in Pistisa
in wells... This is an anthropophilic species throughout its range,
entering houses to feed on man and resting there afterwards"
(Gilles and de Meillon 1968).
Medical Importance
It is a vector of malaria (Gilles and
de Meillon 1968).
