Bionomics
Little is known about the bionomics of Bironella.
Larvae are usually found in undisturbed areas in heavy shade, mainly along
the margins of sluggish streams and various ground-pools but they also inhabit
rock-pools along streams, swamp margins, and seepage waters. The adults
are rarely encountered, and only one species is reported to bite humans.
Medical Importance Bironella
seldom feed on humans and none of the species are known to transmit any
pathogens of human or animal diseases. Important
